One of the special exhibits is Bear Mountain, renovated in 1987; it was the first naturalistic habitat of its kind in North America.   It is currently home to grizzly bears, Asiatic black bears and the coati.  This outcropping of rock formations is based on giant plaster casts from an area near Morrison, Colorado, and was designed to simulate the animals’ natural habitat.

Other exhibits are:  Predator Ridge (A Panoramic View of India), Tropical Discovery (Indoor Rainforest), Primate Panorama (7 acres of monkeys and apes), Pachyderm Habitats (Elephants and Rhinos) and Bird World (nearly 200 species of birds).
